Annually, at the initiative of the International Association of Sleep Medicine, World sleeping day is held.
The purpose of the holiday is to remind you of the importance of a healthy sleep. On this day, various measures are held devoted to sleep disturbances and their impact on human health.
Date of World Sleep Day – Friday of the second full week of March. In this year it falls on March 14.
Sleep is one of the main elements of physical and mental health, along with a balanced diet and regular physical exercises.
This year, World sleeping day is held under the slogan “We will make a healthy dream priority.”
Difficulties with falling asleep, frequent awakening during the night and a feeling of lowness in the morning are signs of poor sleep quality. This follows from these US centers for the control and prevention of diseases (CDC)
High quality sleep protects a person from diseases of the cardiovascular system, diabetes, hypertension and even traffic accidents. In addition, healthy and regular sleep normalizes weight, metabolism, stress resistance and level of attention.
Recommendations to improve sleep quality include compliance with sleep mode, creating comfortable sleep conditions, regular sports, balanced meals and refusal to use electronic devices, eating abundant food and caffeine at least half an hour before sleep.
However, many people around the world cannot develop a high-quality sleep mode due to disorders such as insomnia, restless legs syndrome, narcolepsy (excessive daytime drowsiness and the abnormal phase of fast sleep) and apnea in a dream.
The quality of sleep and its productivity are directly proportional. A survey conducted by the National Sleep Fund in the United States in September 2024 with the participation of 1372 adult respondents, indicated the presence of a connection between the quality of sleep and productivity in many areas of everyday life.
Global research of the ResMed 2024 Sleep confirmed that 36 thousand people from 17 countries participated in the survey (Australia, Brazil, China, France, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Taiwan, Thailand, Great Britain and Britain, UK and Mexico. USA).
