Yair Lapid: Israel and Lebanon reached a historical agreement

The Israeli authorities reached a historical agreement with Lebanon on the demarcation of sea borders, said Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid.

It is noted that in the near future the agreement will be submitted for approval by the government.

“This is a historical achievement that will strengthen Israel’s safety, bring billions to the Israeli economy and ensure stability on the northern border,” the prime minister said in a statement published by the Chancellery.

Israel and Lebanon for many years argued about the area of ​​water space with an area of ​​860 square meters. km, which accounts for 2% of the economic marine zone of Israel and 3% of the economic waters of Lebanon. The region is rich in natural gas fields.
