The manifestants gathered for a rally on the Republic Square in Yerevan began to throw policemen with various objects, reports TASS.
The demonstrators chanted anti -government slogans. The police conducted detention using force.
The police warned the manifestants that if the situation did not calm down, then law enforcement officers will apply special equipment to disperse demonstrators. After that, the tense situation on the Republic Square was discharged.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia reported several detentions of the rally participants who participated in the riots at the government building.
“In particular, one group attacked the police guarding the government building, striking them with their feet and hands, as well as throwing stones and various objects in them. Several people were arrested on suspicion of mass riots,” the message said.
