Azerbaijan urges Armenia to abandon the statements and actions that undermine the prospects for achieving peace.
This is stated in a statement by the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Aihan Gadjizade in connection with the statements of the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikola Pashinyan, expressed in the article in Armenpress.
“The statements of the Prime Minister of Armenia in an article published in Armenpress on February 10, that Azerbaijan is preparing an attack on Armenia and the goals of the community of Western Azerbaijan, as well as many other unreasonable opinions are aimed at distorting reality and misleading the world public, ”Gadzizade said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs drew attention to the fact that the Prime Minister who protects the right to possess military potential represents a country that, within three years after the end of the 44-day war, contained more than ten thousand trained armed forces in Azerbaijan, equipped with heavy weapons .
He noted that after the end of the 44-day war, the military expenses of Armenia increased by about three times, clarifying that from about $ 600 million in 2021 to $ 1.6 billion in 2024. Moreover, according to recently signed military contracts, Armenia acquires offensive weapons that can strike from a long distance, mainly on the territory of Azerbaijan, Hajizade emphasized.
“taking into account the territorial claims preserved in the Constitution and legal acts of Armenia, as well as the fact of strengthening revengeism, the justification for building up the military potential of Armenia is insincere and poses a direct threat to Azerbaijani safety,” he said.
The press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs called Armenia’s statements about the activities and goals of the community of Western Azerbaijan, which seeks to safely and dignity to its lands on the basis of the right to return.
According to him, the refusal of Armenia to recognize this right, including the incorrect interpretation of the goals of the community, only confirms the cruelty of its policy, which led to the disappearance of Azerbaijanis in Armenia, where they once constituted the majority of the population.
