senior persons should be more careful about public statements, said the secretary of the General Council of United Russia Andrei Turchak, commenting on the scandalous statement of the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs Konstantin Zatulin in the direction of Kazakhstan.
Previously, Zatulin reacted to the “incorrect” statement of the President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev, who called the separatist “Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics” “quasi-state” and expressed the doubt that Nur-Sultan someday recognizes them. Zatulin was so dispersed that he threatened Kazakhstan with the same “measures as with Ukraine.”
This was followed by the harsh statement of the secretary of the General Council of United Russia Andrei Turchak.
Konstantin Zatulin’s statement about certain “territorial issues” with Kazakhstan does not withstand criticism, it is better to rethink or at least keep with him, said Turchak.
“You can relate to the words of Kasim-Zhomart Tokayev about the status of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, spoken the day before to the PMEF, but for officials this is not a reason to give provocative, tendentious comments in the media,” the Russian media quoted the words of Turchak published on the party’s website.
Turchak added that such a statement is “clearly beyond the boundaries of competence – the fundamental issues of Russia’s foreign policy are exclusively in the sphere of responsibility of the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.”
as for Konstantin Fedorovich, he should have focused on the functions of his committee, the most important of which, on the contrary, is the strengthening of allied and good neighborly relations with the countries of the former USSR, ”said the secretary of the General Council of the party.
