President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that he turned to Europe and the USA for help in weapons and sanctions, when the Russian Federation began to pull off the troops to the borders with Ukraine, but he was ignored. This was reported by Ukrainian media with reference to an interview with Zelensky Fox News.
According to him, even before the “full -scale invasion”, he personally turned to the then US President Joe Biden with a request to impose sanctions against Russia in response to the buildings of troops near Ukrainian borders.
He also insisted on providing weapons, however, according to him, he received the answer that this would happen only “if Russia starts an invasion.”
“In parallel with this, I asked the countries of the European Union, and they could not do this without the approval of the United States. Therefore, they always look at the leader, the United States. So, during a great invasion, the Ukrainians remained themselves, and we fought ourselves” – he emphasized.
Zelensky also noted that he is hoping for real support from US President Donald Trump in the opposition of Putin. “If President Trump has a desire to force Putin to come to the world, he can do it. We want him to be on the side of justice, on the side of Ukraine,” Zelensky said.
