President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov said that Bishkek is aware of the importance of global challenges and is ready to contribute to their decision. The Kyrgyz leader said this, speaking within the framework of a working visit to Kazakhstan at the Astana International Forum, Kabar agency reports.
Zhaparov noted the importance of response to modern challenges and threats, giving priority to cooperation as the main postulate of a functioning international system. “Before our eyes, the process of forming a new world order is accompanied by an increase in threats and security calls to sovereign states and the entire world community. I would like to focus on some problems that not only Kyrgyzstan, but the whole world faces,” the president said.
The Kyrgyz leader noted that one of the main problems is the climate change and the need to preserve biodiversity. “Unfortunately, this is the fact that the negative consequences of climate change are manifested in our region more and more clearly in the form of glaciers melting, an increase in the number of different natural disasters, which poses great threats and risks for socio-economic development and food security, and entails increasingly increasing costs “, – said Zhaparov.
The politician believes that the transition to the “green” economy, adaptation to climate change, the sustainable use of water and natural resources is dictated by a vital necessity.
Zhaparov raised the issue of energy, noting that today the world is experiencing a difficult stage in its development. “Given the deficiency and high energy prices, renewable energy sources are more and more come to the fore. Currently, work is underway to select water bodies, on which in the future the practical implementation of the construction and operation of small and medium -sized hydroelectric power plants is possible,” – He said.
“Today, in world trade, the signs of fragmentation are not so noticeable, but more and more analysts are inclined to the fact that protectionism measures will grow, since geopolitical tension is also growing. And that for the countries of Central Asia – this can have very serious consequences. Obviously. that, if the countries of the region are cut off from the global market, this can lead to a decrease in export volumes and a deterioration in the trade balance, which, in turn, means reducing investment and an increase in unemployment, ”the Kyrgyz leader emphasized.
Kyrgyzstan is waiting for the active involvement of partners, financial institutions to projects in the region, aimed at the transition of countries to “green”, sustainable, climatic and environmentally friendly “neutral” economy, Zhaparov said.
