The Zimbabwe government announced the abolition of the death penalty after the signing of the relevant law by President Emmerson Mnngagova.
According to the authorities, 60 convicts previously sentenced to death, the punishment was replaced by imprisonment.
The last case of bringing the death sentence in Zimbabwe was recorded in 2005.
